I recently ran my 2008 Polaris Ranger 500 without oil for about 10 minutes; I was unaware of the problem until the engine noise became very loud and it died. There was probably 30-45 seconds of run time from the time the engine noise level increased until it died. Left it undriven for 4 days and it wont start it turns over the engine 1/2 turn then Stops. Using Jumper cables still does not help. Everyone says Battry is damaged. So I replace the battery with new one. Same issue. Things he has checked. cranks over between 400-500 rpm - yes. Spark - yes. Fuel Pressure - 58. Air flow into intake - no obstructions. Connections to sensors on motor - ok. Will not start or even sputter with starting fluid. More to do tonight, I am going over to help and bringing my running Ranger. Drain fuel and replace.4. Took the Ranger on 2-3 mile 40mph cruise to try to get fresh fuel into it. 5. Starting cycling the fuel pump (key to first position but not cranking) twice before trying to start. 6. Jump the solenoid or put power directly to the starter and see if it turns over then. If so then the solenoid is bad. Or measure the voltage at the starter with the start button engaged. It's fuel injected and you can jump across the solenoid and it will turn over that way but it's not firing and I'm getting power to the solenoid when you turn the key but it won't turn over and I replaced the solenoid along with a programmable ecm that's a plug in play ecm. It all of the sudden stopped running while my father in law was driving it. It ran fine before. It cranks over fine, has compression, has spark. I pulled off the fuel line to carb and turned it over and plenty of fuel supply.

Passenger side down at the motor. Could be a bad sensor....or chafed wires. Follow the wire harness up. 800's had horrible wire harness issues. Otb powersports for any replacements. From there it should hold pressure and the pump should run while cranking to keep pressure to the system. If turned off and back on soon after the pump will not run if the pressure is still there.

Line up the cam gear with the xrank pin pointing toward the top of the cylinder. Then pull rhe 14 mm bolt on the top of the stator housing. You should see a timing mark on the stator.
